              A Talk Entertainer

An entertaining talk radio host, writer and producer. My ability to write and produce original song parodies and comedy bits sets my show apart from the others.

Employment

Present      Fill-in Talk Host for WGMD, Rehoboth, DE (via Comrex).

I create an entertaining talk radio show for a very diverse talk radio audience. I use original song parodies, bits and character voices to weave an extremely compelling, topical and humorous show.

2006-2009  Regular Cast Member and Comedy Writer/Producer for The Jay and Randy Show on WCHE, West Chester

Responsibilities included interacting with cast members and listeners, as well as writing and producing locally and nationally-oriented topical comedy bits and song parodies. Also created many ongoing characters for the show, writing bits and parodies for “them”.

2006-2009  Talk Radio and Morning/PM Drive Instructor for CSB (Nashville Campus)

Wrote and delivered class materials for broadcasting students. These materials included all on-air, writing, production and research elements necessary to conduct a successful talk radio and/or drive time radio show.

2004-2006  Vice President of Talent and Programming for Scripps Howard     Networks

Responsible for producing, programming and day-to-day operations as well as the biggest sales day in company history. Wrote and coordinated all promotion, on-air scheduling and host training for this day. Also recruited on-air talent and conducted regular sales training that resulted in substantial increases in show host and vendor productivity. Wrote the vendor-guest training manual. Created and taught regular host and vendor training classes.

2001-2004  Program Director/Afternoon Drive Host for Suburban Philadelphia Radio Station (WCOJ)

Along with recruiting and coaching new talent, I produced and hosted a popular afternoon drive talk show. My show was extremely popular, featuring an entertaining mix of entertainment, current events and humor. The show moved seamlessly between lifestyle and national issues. Also produced many live remote broadcasts and local events which were successful in part because I made them true events, not just station promotions. I also wrote, produced and voiced many station ads and promos.

1986-2001  Senior Program Host, QVC Network

Produced and hosted all major electronic, entertainment and music segments for 15 years. Crafted and implemented effective methods for presenting and selling music, household, technological and jewelry products on QVC. Booked celebrity guests. Wrote and produced promos for various shows. Created sales techniques for QVC and QVC.com that sold substantially more products than previous methods. Holder of many major on-air sales records. Taught sales techniques to program hosts and other employees.

1988-1991  Program Director and Morning Drive Host, WXCT (while working weekends at QVC)

Wrote, produced and performed a daily morning drive show on Classic Rock WXCT, New Haven, Connecticut. (Also worked weekends on QVC). Wrote and produced ads and station promos along with comedy bits and song parodies about local and national events. Coordinated and appeared at all station remotes. Programmed all station music and managed, trained and coached on-air staff.

1979-1986  Creative Director, Corporate Media Communications

Built, motivated and managed a creative team of writers, artists and film producers. Wrote and produced television and radio commercials as well as print ads. Worked closely with clients to create innovative and effective sales and marketing strategies for products including software, computers, telecommunications systems and many other diverse categories. Wrote and produced musical jingles for a wide range of products and services. Hired actors, musicians and stagehands to create many business-to-business entertainment shows and presentations.

Other Accomplishments

Wrote, performed and produced comedy bits and parodies for major market radio shows. Wrote both editions of Basic Camcorder Guide; one of the best selling camcorder books in history. Also wrote the best-selling sales book Sales Magic.

But wait, there's more...

I'm different than most other talk hosts. I'm not a Conservative, Liberal or Libertarian. I'm an issues-oriented talk entertainer. While I will try to make a difference with the show, my main goal is to entertain my listeners and make them laugh.

Guitar Playing Made Easy
A great talk host is an entertainer as well as an educator. My first how-to guitar video combines both disciplines. If you've ever wanted to play and have fun, here is the complete version. If you already play a little, start with Part 3. Enjoy!
